What do you enjoy most in your current role and why?

For me, the greatest satisfaction comes from witnessing our staff, who have completed their training, thrive in their roles and make a positive impact on our patient populations. Seeing them deliver excellent care is truly rewarding and reinforces the importance of our work.

Can you tell us about one of the biggest challenges you have had to overcome in your career?

One of the most significant challenges I’ve encountered was finding my voice and advocating for patients and staff. It took time and courage, but by prioritising open communication and standing up for what I believe in, I was able to overcome this obstacle and make a difference in the lives of those I serve.

What advice would you give to newly qualified nurses?

Embrace the vast opportunities that this career offers. Take the time to learn and master your chosen area of expertise. Your dedication to continuous learning will shine through in your interactions with patients and colleagues, fostering trust and confidence in your abilities.

If you were the next health minister, what would you tackle first and why?

Addressing shortages of healthcare professionals, healthcare infrastructure and funding, and health disparities and inequalities, shall I go on!

What are you looking forward to at Nursing Live this year?

I’m looking forward to meeting each and every one of you and engaging in meaningful networking opportunities.
