James Ridley

Dementia Care Manager
HC-One

James is currently a Dementia Care Manager working within the Dementia Care Team for HC-One. James has worked within services for over 30yrs in multiple roles and has gained an invaluable insight into how services have adapted over time and alongside an ever-changing political climate which continues to challenge and shape services.

James has worked within a variety of services covering both health and social care, and this has and continues to support his career and research interests which include working with individuals who experience distress and which can result in exclusion, isolation and the potential for an increased likelihood of restrictive practice. James is a member of the Restraint Reduction Network and sits within the national steering group where his focus remains on the needs of people with a learning disability, but also the needs of those who are living with Dementia.

James continues to advocate for a rights-based approach in relation to supporting those who receive care and those who provide care. Recognising the importance of the rights of everyone is a key part of being able to offer care and support that is personalised, responsive and recognise the trauma that can occur when either faced with or responding to the distress of others.
