Barbara Braithwaite

Barbara worked in the Clinical Trials Unit at Alderhey for 2 years and then at The Royal Liverpool University Hospital’s Haematology Department for 10 years as a Clinical Database Designer.

Ethan came to live with Barbara and his Dad in the summer of 2011, being released to our care having just had double hip reconstruction surgery at Alderhey Hospital. Her time as a step mum changed overnight and I became his advocate and primary carer immediately. So much so that in 2016 Barbara made the decision to end my career to ensure that he has the love, care and devotion that is required to keep him alive and fulfilled. She understood the everyday schedule of anxiety and stress that every parent goes through and she experienced firsthand how overwhelming and terrifying the transition process is.
